So, I bought this notebook, Write the Story, from Five Below and it gives you a title of your
story that prompts about what to write about. It makes you included a certain group of words. When I found the notebook, there was one specific story that I kept turning to. It was called The Loss of a Loved One. I knew I had to write it.
The words it asked to be include are the follow:
bachelor chandelier ladybug Muslim strive inverse mannerism balance overreact prime
Without further to do, ladies and gentlemen, The Loss of a Loved One.
The crowd slowly started filling the small room. People quietly whispering while they shed a tear here and there.
I try to keep my balance while everyone comes and shakes my hand. Honestly, a lot of it is a blue. Everyone apologizing. Telling me stories and memories. It was kind but I didn’t want to hear it. Not now at least.
I was zoning out. I felt like I was on auto pilot. Then, I caught the reverend out of the corner of my eye. I turned and nodded as she pointed at her watch and cleared the line away from me.
I stepped away into the hallway for a moment to pull myself together. My best friend came down the hall and gave me a big hug. Standing in her arms, I knew what I needed to do. We smiled softly and she took a seat in the from row.
I pulled my letter out of my pocket and made my way to the podium. I took a deep breathe and looked up at the chandelier in the middle of the room. As I do, a small ladybug lands on my hand.
“Hi Grandma.,” I whisper as it moves to the top of my paper.
I look up at the crowd who all have their eyes on me.
“Hello. Thank you all for coming out today, to honor Marie LeAnne Brown, my grandmother. She would have appreciated the mannerism shown today by giving her one finally goodbye.
Marie was a tough broad who strived for greatness. She loved everyone. She knew how to handle every situation, especially the hectic ones without overreacting. There are many people in the world like her.
If you truly know Marie, you would know she loves the show, the Bachelor. She needed to know who Jaden was going to pick. Was it Caitlin, the spunky blonde or was it Rana, the beautiful Muslim girl. Marie loved Rana. She loved their inverse relationship that the two had created together.
Rana reminded Marie of herself when she was in her prime. Young, beautiful, outgoing. She prayed that Jaden would pick her. She saw true love. Just like she did in her husband.
When Jaden got down on one knee and asked Rana to be his forever, Marie cried with happiness. We watched that episode together. Marie was so happy and content with life. She gave me a big hug and told me she loved me. Said she can’t wait for me to find my forever. I went to bed knowing the love that Marie had for me. Knowing she went to bed at peace, with a smile on her face. That night Marie past away in her sleep.
Marie loved each and everyone of you who came out here today. The stories I heard today are testaments of who Marie was. Even though she has past away, I hope we can continue her memory and that she still will be us.
Marie, I love you and you are missed. You will always will be with us. Thank you for the memories and all of the love.
Thank you all for coming. It would have meant a lot to Marie.”
As I say that, the ladybug landed on my hand and flew towards the sunlight. I smiled and whispered, “Thanks Marie. I love you, Grandma.”
That was The Loss of a Loved One. There will be more short stories coming your way. I'm glad that I bought that notebook to try and get back into story writing. It is always an interesting experience. I hope y'all enjoyed. Drop a comment below if you would like more of these.
