Happy 4th of July!

Happy 4th of July! The day we give thanks to those who are fighting to defend our country. I have so much respect for those who give their lives daily, so every civilian can live their lives in freedom. I know our world is heavily divided among different stages of what is right and what is wrong. In the end, we all have to remember that we are all just human. We need to put our differences aside and stand together. Especially on a day like today, where we give thanks for everything we do have.

Today, believe it or not, is actually my favorite holiday. One, because we can give thanks to those who fight for our country. Two, when I was a teenager, my group of friends and I would celebrate some holidays together. Halloween was always at my best friend's (at the time) house. I wanted my own holiday to celebrate, and throw the party at my house. 4th of July became my holiday. I remember when I was in high school, one 4th we had the volleyball net up in the backyard, and had a cook out, and got to see fireworks at night. I came to love this holiday.

This is the first 4th that I have to work, and I am learning to except that when you get older, you have to give up some of your traditions. Work is one of those things. Once I started my job, I have worked most of holidays and it has been hard, but I have also made peace with turning my days around. 

So when you go out to your barbecues today, your parades and fireworks, make sure you have time to say thank you to a military man or woman, or a family member or friend who serves or has served. Find some time today to just remember what today is truly about. It is about our freedom, and those who have given us our freedom.
