Goodbye 2020. Hello 2021!

With 2020 coming to an end, I have so much to reflect on this year. I was scrolling through Insta Stories the other day and I saw a friend share a post that stated "Questions to Ask Yourself As 2021 Arrives." Who doesn't love some good questions that really make you think, right? I thought what better way to end 2020 than to answer these. I'm excited for more blogs to come in 2021. I have a lot of ideas in the works, but for now, here are the questions...

1. What did you learn in 2020?
I have learned that I am not perfect. I have flaws and negative traits to learn from and change. I blame others to feel better about myself, but really it is me who is wrong.
2. Where did you see God move this past year?
We all ask God for a sign. Whether it is about someone you are dating or that you are making a right choice. I've ask God for that and without asking out loud, he has shown me a sign. For me, He gave me Kyle. Ky has truly been someone I have been asking for for 27 years. There was a point when I was questioning if living with Ky was what I should be doing. If Ky is the one. God gave me the signs I needed (will explain more in another article). He's made it clear, especially in the last 30 days, that He is there with me. That my life is in His hands.
3. What brought you joy?
Not to make all my answers about Kyle but he truly has brought me so much joy. He frustrates me, more than I'd like, but I have never laughed and smiled with someone as much as I have with Ky.

Also, finding peace. This past summer, we went to Lake Geneva a lot with our families. I would take 5 to 10 minutes without everyone and swim by myself to just float. My ears were aggravated by the water so I wore ear plugs. I'd just float on my back, sounds around me blocked out, just staring at the sky. I realized how tiny I was and what incredible things were surrounding me. Things I may not have every noticed before. I found a lot of joy this summer.
4. Who do you need to thank for helping you make it through the year?
Most obvious answer...Ky. Not only him though. My parents. My boss and coworkers. Kyle's mom and aunt. All of their love and support with making big decisions this year. I couldn't have done it without them. (If you are reading this, thank you from the bottom on my heart).
5. What is a memory from this past year that you'll be holding onto forever?
I already kind of stated it. Floating in the water staring at the beautiful skies above me. Getting lost in peace. At the time, I was still working and trying to make time for work and family. God works wonders and when I would just float, I saw those wonders in progress. When things get stressful or I feel lost, I think back to these days. It helps me to remember that God has my life in His hands and I play a tiny but mighty role in the beautiful world that He has created.
6. What are you leaving behind in 2020?
I am leaving behind old and toxic habits. Trying to at least. *Fingers crossed*
7. What are you taking with you into 2021?
My love. :) A new and clear mindset for new adventures. New skills I have learned that have helped me grow in my career and personal life. New family members (Ky's family) that I have been blessed with this year to make my family grow.
2020 has been a year y'all. I know I don't have to say that, but some amazing things have come from this year. The biggest is that I met my person. The love of my life. We have had a crazy year together but I wouldn't change it for the life of us. I'm so excited to see what 2021 has in store for us. We are just 20 days away from us being together a whole year, which is insane. It has been a journey that I wouldn't want to take with anyone else.
I hope 2021 brings everyone a safe and happy year. May you be blessed and this be the best year yet.
Cheers!
